Included on this page are several EXTREMELY helpful resources for navigating OneNote. If you would like a more personalized learning experience, please contact me to schedule one. At this point, providing resources that you can use when it fits your schedule seems the preferred method--rather than staying after hours to do an hour of training.  For a quick reference spot, go to the following website whenever you need a refresher. 1st Grade's Classroom Store

Posted by Scott Arenal-Mullen in General  |  Post a comment

Mrs. Hadden and Ms. Chapman worked with their students to remake their classroom into a store. This experience was designed to help better students’ understanding of economic concepts like goods and services. It also coincided with a unit in math dealing with money. The designers invited adults in the building to visit the store and each adult was given money to spend.   Student Voice: Kendall, “I liked combing people’s hair and doing their nails and making them happy.”     ...

Curated Historical Events

Posted by Scott Arenal-Mullen in General  |  Post a comment

Mrs. Williams shared this really neat website full of curated resources (videos, pictures, articles, artifacts, and links). Feel free to use it for more than just social studies though! It could be used to examine the effects of weathering, the impact of humanity on the planet/each other, writing in ELA, or other areas as you can discover new ways to integrate literacy and a questioning/insightful mind. Let's keep our students exploring new ways that they can be life-long learners.   https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/category/event   There...

M. Farris Reflection on Choice

Posted by Scott Arenal-Mullen in General  |  Comments (1)

Mr. Farris has provided a reflection based on his experiences with building choice into one of his lessons.   "With the Ancient Civilizations virtual museum projects, I allowed students to choose the digital presentation format with which they were most comfortable.  I also provided students the option to create a traditional poster presentation if they found that format more exciting (Only 2 of 13 students choose that option)  Challenges:  A few students were limited...

D. Lester Reflection on Choice

Posted by Scott Arenal-Mullen in General  |  Comments (3)

I asked Ms. Lester to give a few words about her experience with building choice into a lesson and she provided me with this incredible reflection! "In 7th grade Social Studies, I designed a project that encompassed choice, citing textual evidence, technology and team building. I've always been into projects because they can combine multiple standards and if designed correctly can provide a true assessment of students' knowledge. Most of all projects illustrate student's practice with various...

Schlechty Unit Design Preparation

Posted by Cherita Williams in General  |  Post a comment

Schlechty Unit Design Preparation During pre-planning, we will continue our work with the Schlechty Design Qualities. This is really the heart our work with the program, as we will begin the exciting process of designing engaging work for students. As you reflect on the units that you taught last year or the units that you will teach this year, think about the units that were especially difficult for students or that you think will present difficulty for students. Is that unit critical...
